Thornton, born September 15, 1976, is an American former professional pitcher of baseball. He was born in Three Rivers, Michigan and attended High School in Centreville. He was a Major League Baseball (MLB), player for the Seattle Mariners and Chicago White Sox as well as the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Washington Nationals. Thornton is the American League’s all-time leader in holds.

Thornton made his MLB debut with the Mariners on June 27, 2004 in a game against San Diego Padres.
