Teri McKeever is one of the most popular and richest American coach who was born on January 1, 1962 in United States. McKeever’s Cal Bears program has produced many players for the U.S. Olympic team, including Natalie Coughlin, Haley Cope, Jessica Hardy, Caitlin Leverenz, Emily Silver, Missy Franklin, Rachel Bootsma, and Dana Vollmer. She previously worked as an assistant coach to the United States Olympic women’s swimming team during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.
In December 2010, she was selected as the head coach of the 2012 U.S. Olympic women’s swim team that competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She is the first woman to serve as the head coach of a U.S. women’s national swim team at the Olympics. She previously served as the head coach the U.S. women’s national team for the 2010 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships.
McKeever began her coaching career with the assistant coaching position at USC from 1984 until 1987. She was director of coaching for the California Golden Bears women’s swimming team at the University of California, Berkeley from 1992 to 1993. In 1996 and 1997 (her fifth year as the head coach) Her California Bears swim teams have consistently been in the top 10 Division I college teams in the country. They have won three of the last four national championships. Bears females have been winners of three of the most recent four Pac-12 Conference team championships (2009 2011 and 2012) and three of the previous four NCAA National championships (2009 2011, 2012). She was recognized as the Pacific-10 Conference Coach of the Year five times, and was named the NCAA Coach of the Year three times.
McKeever was a student at in the University of Southern California (USC) where she competed with the USC Trojans women’s swimming and diving team from 1980 until 1983. She then became a part of Alpha Gamma Delta in 1981. She participated at four NCAA national championships and contributed to the Trojans having four straight national top ten finishers. She earned All-America recognition in both 1980 and 1981. Following her senior season in 1983 she was named the top student athlete at the university. She completed her degree at USC with an undergraduate degree in education in 1983. She later received a master’s degree in athletic administration in 1987.
McKeever married Jerry Romani in 2007, after they met at a California Golden Bears football game. They live in the El Cerrito Hills area of metropolitan San Francisco.
